Voici une autre particularité étrange de l'Aître Saint-Maclou : un chat momifié dans le mur de la façade de ce bâtiment que l'on peut apercevoir derrière une vitre. Au XVIe siecle, quand on construisait un bâtiment, on emmurait quelquefois vivant un chat noir afin de conjurer le diable. Ce fut le cas pour ce bâtiment construit entre 1528 et 1533.
